HMRC Tax Notification scam emails circulating again – BEWARE

Please be aware that there is a phishing email purporting to be from HMRC advising that you are due a tax refund but HMRC are unable to credit it due to an invalid account record.

THIS IS A SCAM! Do not reply to this email & DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT

Forward it to HMRC at phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov, then DELETE IT. 

Below is a copy of the email:

Date: 11/06/2014 

A tax refund of 304.73 GBP. (Still Pending) Due to invalid account record we were unable to credit your account. Please submit a verified tax refund form. 

A refund can be delayed for a variety reasons. For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

To access your tax refund, please follow the steps bellow:

– download the Tax Refund Form attached to this email

– open it in a browser (recommended mozilla firefox)

– follow the instructions on your screen
